A hometown vet who came back to stay.

Dr. Andy Burdette is from here. He grew up in Jackson, left for West Point, spent five years in the Army, and came home to continue the veterinary practice his father started in 1981.

In veterinary medicine, that's increasingly rare. More and more practices are owned by corporate chains and private equity groups, but Jackson Veterinary Clinic isn't one of them. We stay independent, owned and run by the doctor whose name is on the door.

It means the person treating your animal knows this town and plans to be here for the long haul.

Anyone can treat a symptom, but we'd rather understand what's behind it. Sometimes that means a few more questions or a closer look, but it's how problems get caught early instead of coming back.

If a test or a treatment won't change the outcome for your pet, we'll say so. You'll get a straight read and your options, and the decision is always yours.

Dr. Burdette spent the early years of his career in emergency medicine, which gives us the ability to handle more than you'd expect from a practice our size. A lot of what people assume means a trip to the city, we do right here in Jackson.

A Full-Service Animal Clinic

Right off the Jackson Square.

You'll find us on East Second Street, just off the town square. Families come to us from all over the area, Jackson and Butts County, plus McDonough, Griffin, Forsyth, Monticello, and Covington. Some who've moved away still make the drive back.

Are you accepting new clients?

Do you accept walk-ins?

We're an appointment-based clinic, so we're not set up for walk-ins. That's on purpose: it lets every pet get the doctor's full, unhurried attention. Before stopping in, give us a call at (770) 775-5710 and we'll set aside the right time for your pet.

How much is a visit going to cost?

It depends on what your pet needs. We'll go over the cost with you up front, so there's no surprise at checkout.

What should I do if my pet has an emergency after hours?

For an after-hours emergency, go to SAVES in Peachtree City or East Metro in Covington, both open overnight and on weekends. We're a general practice and aren't open around the clock, so for complex cases the UGA veterinary hospital in Athens is also an option. If you're ever unsure where to go, call us during business hours and we'll help you plan ahead.
